ABOUT US
La Mano Gráfica is a gallery that exhibits the work of local and national artists, as well as a small curated selection of handicrafts and textiles. The story began in Los Angeles with La Mano Press, a printmaking studio that opened in the heart of the Lincoln Heights district. It was a place loved and frequented by local artists and fans.
Its founders Silvia and Artemio decided to return to their country of origin and settled in the picturesque and quiet town of Tacámbaro, where they opened several cultural spaces including La Paloma Espacio Cultural (closed for the moment) and La Mano Artesana, which has just opened its doors in the city of Morelia. Meanwhile in Pátzcuaro they founded La Mano Gráfica; gallery, shop and workshop space for printmaking and other trades.
In addition to working on their individual projects, they are currently working on a project that they hold very dear, the Illustrated Book Library (BLI), a library dedicated to the preservation of books and the world of printmaking. The BLI is currently housed in the Old Jesuit College of Pátzcuaro and another smaller headquarters in the community of Santa Ana Chapitiro. Through the BLI there are exhibitions ranging from individuals who have had an impact on the community and themes and objects from the collection of books gathered so far.
Community projects are something they are passionate about and they do all of this independently and with the sale of work and crafts and both stores. Donations are always welcomed and put to good use.

La Mano Gráfica es una galería que exhibe obra de artistas locales y nacionales, así como una pequeña selección curada de artesanías y textiles. La historia comenzó en Los Ángeles con La Mano Press, un estudio de grabado que abrió sus puertas en el corazón del distrito de Lincoln Heights. Era un lugar concurrido por los artistas y aficionados locales.
Sus fundadores Silvia y Artemio decidieron regresar a su país de origen y se instalaron en el pintoresco y tranquilo pueblo de Tacámbaro, donde abrieron varios espacios culturales entre ellos La Paloma Espacio Cultural (cerrada por el momento) y La Mano Artesana que acaba de re-abrir sus puertas en Morelia. Mientras tanto en Pátzcuaro fundaron La Mano Gráfica; galería, tienda y espacio de talleres de grabado y otros oficios.
Además de trabajar en sus proyectos individuales, actualmente están trabajando en un proyecto que les apasiona mucho, la Biblioteca del Libro Ilustrado (BLI), una biblioteca dedicada a la preservación de los libros y del mundo del grabado. La BLI se encuentra actualmente albergada dentro del Antiguo Colegio Jesuita de Pátzcuaro y otra sede más pequeña en la comunidad de Santa Ana Chapitiro. A travez de la BLI se realizan exposiciones que van desde individuos que han tenido un impacto en la comunidad y temas y objetos de la colección de libros reunidos hasta el momento. Los proyectos culturales comunitarios es algo que les apasiona y todo esto lo hacen de modo autogestivo. Donaciones siempre son bienvenidas y puestas a buen uso.
